Students First... Always!!

Luis is a product of TUSD public schools. His wife Bertha is a retired Bilingual Speech Pathologist having served TUSD for over 20 years. Luis is a former State Senator and served as a Board Member for Pima Community College.  Together, they form a team committed to public service.  Luis is a Tucson High Graduate and was an outstanding  athlete, playing Baseball with great team mates such as Coach Don Bacon and Major Leaguer Eddie Leon.

  I am passionate about our children's education. Every child must have the opportunity to learn to their highest individual capacity. Every student, from a gifted to a special needs student MUST be a priority, that is why my motto is “Students First … ALWAYS!”  Our legacy must be measured not by how many schools we build, who we name them after, or how many we closed, but rather, did the student learn to read, write, and do Math. Did we give them a strong foundation for the future ahead of them. Did we succeed where others may have failed to give all students the educational opportunity they deserve.
